Some are year model specific like the Valve springs which was mostly related to a batch of the 97 model range. 11/9/2012 · Yeah when I checked the coil it was split. So it doesnt have a rough idle anymore but it sputters on acceleration still.

10/6/2011 · Discussion Starter • #1 • Apr 21, 2011. for almost a year now my jeep will start to sputter after about a minute of idle. also at times taking off in first, clutch all the way out, there is hesitation for a few seconds then jumps back to normal condition as if fuel or spark may cut out or misfire. but this has not set a code so its not a misfire.

2/6/2017 · Sputtering and losing power while accelerating. I hace a 6 cylinder 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 140k miles on it. I’ve had it for 5+ years with no major issues and have kept up the maintenance pretty well. Last month when out of town, my husband was driving my car and told me it felt like it sputtering as if it were running out of gas.
My 1998 jeep wrangler will start sputtering and losing power when being driven. Then push in clutch and give it gas revs right up. Let the clutch out and sometimes it is fine for a while sometimes starts sputtering again. When this happens and you pull up to a stop the engine will almost seem like it will stall then it will recover.
